David Dastmalchian and Hiam Abbass Join Cast of Untitled 'Blade Runner' Sequel

David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight) and Hiam Abbass (Munich) are set to join the previously announced cast of Alcon Entertainment's Untitled BLADE RUNNER sequel which includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi and Dave Bautista, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) is directing the film to be released October 6, 2017. The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.

The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details are not being revealed.

Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO's of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Ridley Scott will also executive produce. Bill Carraro will executive produce.

David Dastmalchian recently appeared in Marvel Studio's blockbuster hit Ant-Man alongside Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. His upcoming projects include the reboot of the iconic television show Twin Peaks, David Lynch's cult classic mystery series for Showtime. Dastmalchian's credits include Warner Bros. The Dark Night from director Christopher Nolan and Prisoners, also from Denis Villenueuve, where he starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman.

Israeli actress Hiam Abbass is best known for her performance in the 5-time Oscar nominated drama Munich from Steven Spielberg alongside Eric Bana and Daniel Craig, as well as, the Oscar nominated drama The Visitor from Academy Award winning director Tom McCarthy. She was also in the critically acclaimed Israeli film Lemon Tree. Her upcoming projects include the French film Corps ├ętranger, currently in post-production.
